THE SIDEBAR SSSSSSPEAKS
"After fifty years of American bands that sound English, Gooblar's a London band that play a very USA pop-rock. Someone will need to grow some cornfields along Oxford Street, sell hotdogs at Picadilly Circus, and then invite Gooblar to rock out on a roof. 'Twentieth Century' is about missing the 20th C. It has handclaps, 'oohs', a singalong chorus, & an unstoppable sense of fun. Every rhyme's right-on, every guitar-riff like that little push when you jump on your bike. And before you start slagging off the 20th c in the comments ('A song about the century of Hitler? The century of Kraft Foods?!'), Gooblar's got you covered: 'It's a case of dumb nostalgia / I should worship something wiser / than the century I'm defending / genocides and ethnic cleansing.' ... It's pure apple-and-chrome hooray."

"Pavement fans watch the skies, it's alt rock in the shape of Gooblar. These guys have a smirky, amusing slant on things, and a crunchy sound that would go well in a hardcore salad dish. The excellent 'Uh Oh' in particular sounds like Frank Black fronting a deranged Weezer, and deserves to be playlisted at all the summer barbeques this summer! In the summer! All summer! Yipeeeeeeee!!!!"

"Gooblar are a London band with an American spirit. There's nothing obnoxious in this: it's guitar-pop shot through with melody; electric guitars and oohs alongside drums and a little piano. 20th Century is a cheery eulogy for the era we recently left, its nostalgia reined to guitar-hooks, oohs, and self-aware lyrics."

-The Skinny

"There's something loose and free about Gooblar's music that is reminiscent of a [tighter] Pavement mixed with the awesome clean, forward pop music of New Wave sensations like Elvis Costello. There's a little bit of a Spoon twinge there, too ... these guys rock out like they're the British version of an alternative Texas group!"

"An EP of fortunate beauty."
