A chessboard to the skies

Thanks to everyone who came out on Tuesday to the CD
Release Party--we had a great time, despite the fact
that Chris had to stand as a bulwark in front of
Richie's sliding kick drum. Next show SATURDAY June 2, Hope
& Anchor, Islington.
In the meantime, there are two Jim Clements and the Right to Die gigs happening. We/they are playing this coming Saturday afternoon, May 19, at RoTa at Notting Hill Arts Club. It's at 4pm, and it's FREE. Next up is Tuesday May 29 at the Betsey Trotwood in Clerkenwell. The new band is hot, hot shit, and these gigs are sure to be barnburners. All info at JC+RtD's site.
Lastly, press is starting to come in for Don't You Want Me, Gooblar?, and some very smart people have had some very nice things to say about the record.
Artrocker.com sez:
"These guys have a smirky, amusing slant on things, and a crunchy sound that would go well in a hardcore salad dish. The excellent 'Uh Oh' in particular sounds like Frank Black fronting a deranged Weezer, and deserves to be playlisted at all the summer barbeques this summer!"
The mighty Said the Gramophone likes "Twentieth Century":
"After fifty years of American bands that sound English, Gooblar's a London band that play a very USA pop-rock. Someone will need to grow some cornfields along Oxford Street, sell hotdogs at Picadilly Circus, and then invite Gooblar to rock out on a roof. "Twentieth Century" is about missing the 20th C. It has handclaps, "oohs", a singalong chorus, & an unstoppable sense of fun. Every rhyme's right-on, every guitar-riff like that little push when you jump on your bike. . . . It's pure apple-and-chrome hooray."
Hooray!
